North Hill was founded by Chartered Accountant Mark O’Hanrahan.
The North Hill head office is based in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, yet we also operate in London to service London businesses and those who find it easier to meet in a central city location.

While acting as a senior finance professional within the medium and small business sector, Mark noticed that the needs of many were not being catered for by traditional compliance based accounting and tax service offerings.
That is, many medium and small business owners needed access to advisory services in addition to compliance, yet did not require the need of a full time accounting and finance resource.

Joined up thinking across the business in terms of tax minimisation and proactive tax planning for profit extraction was frequently desired yet rarely serviced.
As such, North Hill was founded to provide a one stop solution to clients to ensure they had their core needs met in terms of i) remaining compliant, ii) minimising taxes and iii) reducing time and hassle associated with managing finance related issues.
In addition to above, some clients benefit from decision support services in the form of management accounts (i.e. profit and loss, balance sheet, KPI reporting) and a virtual CFO.
That is, management accounts and reporting is produced and articulated to clients such that they can set targets (profit and otherwise) for the future, and then measure their progression towards those targets over time.
Having this approach reduces coordination fatigue for North Hill’s clients by removing the need to manage multiple advisors and staff at once.
It also provides clients with access to senior finance support without the full-time cost normally associated. This can be especially useful to small businesses who have growth aspirations.
Accounting solutions
North Hill is an accountancy firm which is registered as a certified Xero Bronze Partner.
Services are provided to a variety of businesses (e.g. sole traders, limited company owners, medium and small business owners etc) to enable them to either transition over to Xero, or if already using the online accounting software, training and setup to ensure they are making the most efficient use of what's on offer.
By working with Xero, we are able to offer an accessible and convenient solution to our clients in the form of online accounting services.
That is, using Xero allows us to work on the same data source as clients in real time, ensuring that information can be exchanged instantly and remotely.
